Frequently Asked Questions

 Club volleyball is an opportunity to play volleyball outside of high school or middle school-sponsored activities. Families pay to join a volleyball club that arranges for team practices, coaches, uniforms, insurance, and other items, and also for tournaments that the team will play in, competing against other clubs. Club teams are based on age, rather than grade. USA Volleyball currently uses June 30th as the cut-off date for age groups, so your player’s age on or before June 30th of the upcoming season is the age group they would try out for. 

The age range for joining 405 Drive Volleyball is between 10 and 18 years old.

 Tryout dates vary from year to year, but practices for all age groups begin in mid-November, and end prior to the final tournament of the year. Tournaments begin in January, with the conclusion of the season occurring after the OKRVA Regional Tournament, which is the final tournament. This tournament usually occurs during the first weekend of May.  

 Players must try out with their age group to be placed on a team. Tryout dates and times vary yearly, so follow us on social media or keep an eye out on our website for upcoming tryout information. During a tryout, coaches will evaluate players based on their performance, attitude, and effort through various drills, scrimmages, and assessments. After tryouts have concluded, coaches will be in contact with prospective players by phone. These phone calls could span over multiple days depending on the tryout schedule for the rest of the region. Clubs have to allow a reasonable amount of time for players to make a decision on which club they would like to commit to, which may result in a delay in communication after tryouts.

 Depending on the age group and level of the team, teams can expect to attend 7-9 tournaments throughout the season (January-May). All tournaments will be within the state of Oklahoma. All teams can expect to attend at least one tournament in Tulsa, while the majority of tournaments will be located around the Oklahoma City metro area.

We believe that all players should have the opportunity to play club volleyball, and we strive to keep costs low to make this possible. 405 Drive also prioritizes local tournaments to keep additional travel expenses low for our families. Most tournaments are located around the OKC metro area, while all teams stay within the state of Oklahoma for all tournaments throughout the season.
